FOR SALE > 'Mothers Milk' Strat

If you're here you probably like vintage guitars and the look of well played Strats..

On offer is a Hendrix style guitar in vintage white with a Tortoishell pickguard (but looks equally great with Mint Green)

This is a professionally built custom guitar using a 1999 USA Standard Body finished in White, which has aged naturally over the last 15 years to a light cream (see reverse of body where the backplate has been removed).

The guitar is fitted with a Bare Knuckle ‘Mothers Milk’ single coil set with aged covers.

Finally the guitar has been fret dressed and professionally setup with a low and very playable action.

Detailed Specification

Body – USA Standard Body, 1999.

Neck – WD, Rosewood board, 7.25 Radius, vintage frets, aged nitro lacquer

Tuners – Kluson style split posts, aged nickel

Pickups – Bare Knuckle Mothers Milk, aged

This is not a guitar made from a bunch of cheap parts, and I am not intending to pass this guitar off as an original Fender.  The body, neck and hardware have been specifically selected based on quality, and to replicate an authentic looking guitar from 50 years ago - It should be compared to ‘Custom Shop’ guitars.

If you have any questions about the parts, build, finish etc. please ask.

Included in the sale is a hard case.

Pedalboard Spring Clean

Had a good think about pedals today, not least to remind myself how much money I have invested in these over the years :-/

Above you can see my two gig ready boards, and a larger board I use for experimenting.

Left - my Southern Rock board - overdrives, boost and delay

Right - my Solo Beatles board - transparent drive and chorus

I'm big fan of Catlinbread and Barber pedals

Which is my favourite? - hard to say but I am always amazed by the Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret with my Fender Princeton - here's why...

Nashville - My Guilty Pleasure

Playing around in GarageBand over the weekend experimenting with parts for Consider Me - from Nashville Season 1. (written by Ashley Monroe and Brendan Benson).

In this cover I have used the online vocal by the excellent Ciara Salloum.  All other instruments recorded live into GarageBand.

The one that got away..

I was lusting after this guitar for most of last year.  Finally saved enough to buy it.  Someone beat me to it :-(

all about the 'burst - Now Sold

This guitar started life as a USA Standard Strat and is an example of a less-is-more approach to modification – making mild ‘improvements’ rather than a full relic approach.
Originally shipped with a modern maple neck, this has been replaced with a 7.25” vintage rosewood neck and tuners (WD) which is a strong preference of mine.

The neck pickup has been upgraded to a Klein S-5 – a scooped mid pickup (think John Mayer) which provides a superb clean tone.

The standard white pickguard and knobs have been replaced with those from a much older guitar, which have naturally darkened.

Overall just a great looking and very playable guitar.
